The Department of Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) of COVAS, Kishanganj, since its establishment on 29.04.2023, delivers excellent preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic health services to the livestock’s, farm and companion animal patients and consultancy services to the animal owners, farmers, State Animal Husbandry Institutions, Military and Paramilitary Establishments and NGOs. It is an integral part of the COVAS, Kishanganj and smooth operation of the Veterinary Clinical Complex occurs with help of clinical (Veterinary Medicine, Surgery & Radiology and Gynaecology & Obstetrics), para-clinical (Veterinary Pathology and Biochemistry) and non-teaching staffs. The Veterinary Clinical Complex is committed to provide excellent diagnosis and treatment facilities to animal patients and acts as a referral center for State Veterinary Institutions. The Veterinary Clinical Complex has its own diagnostic laboratory for haematology, serum biochemistry, urine and fecal sample examinations and other advanced diagnostic facilities viz. endoscopy, digital radiology and ultrasonography for assisting clinicians for proper diagnosis of the disease conditions and providing requisite treatments. Its well aid with clinicians and paraclinicians for providing hands-on training to veterinary practitioners and veterinary specialists as well as teaching the undergraduate and post-graduate students. It establishes standard operating procedures for communicating with animal owners, proper anamnesis of the cases, handling the clinical cases, performing clinical diagnostic tests and procedures and interpreting test results, and correlating them with clinical finding for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Mandate


  • To provide preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic health services to the livestock’s, farm and companion animal patients
  • To provide teaching facilities to the undergraduate and post-graduate students
  • To provide health services to livestock’s farm and companion animal patients of remote areas through ambulatory clinics
  • To provide hands-on training to veterinary practitioners and veterinary specialists

Facilities


The Veterinary Clinical Complex has different facilities/sections:

  • OPD Section for attending the animal patients and the animal owners
  • Surgery & Radiology Section for surgical intervention and accordingly its proper for treatment
  • Gynaecology & Obstetrics Section for dealing with animal infertility and sterility issues, obstetrical services as well as artificial insemination services
  • Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for processing the samples during OPD hours and help the clinician in diagnosis of disease conditions
  • Ambulatory Clinics for providing health services to livestock and companion animal of remote areas
