Dr. Raman Kumar Trivedi, did his B.F.Sc. in 1986 and M.F.Sc. in 1989 from UAS, Bangalore and Ph.D. in 1997 from Rajasthan Agriculture University, Udaipur. He has undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience of 29 years. His Ph.D. work was on “Toxicity of Heavy Metals on Indian Major carps”. His major area of research interest is Limnology, Aquatic Environment Management and climate change adaptation strategies in inland fisheries. Have been closely involved with student management programmes as In-charge Academic cell and Provost for the Boys hostels for more than six years. Besides a number of invited lectures at important fora, he has more than 50 research papers published in reputed National and International journals to his credit besides he has presented large number of papers at various national and International conferences/Symposia. Also chaired technical sessions in National and International Symposia. He has written/edited 5 books and 5 book chapters, technical reports and delivered more than 25 invited. lectures. He has already completed six ICAR and MOEF research projects as PI/Co-PI. He has also done overseas funded research and consultancy projects funded by GIZ, Germany. Dr Trivedi has carried EIA related consultancy for five projects. He has developed a protocol for “Climate Resilient Aquaculture Strategy for Coast Areas of West Bengal”. Dr Trivedi has been identified by MOEF as expert for consultation for making plastic free coastal zones. As team leader He has been instrumental in identifying “Critical Vulnerable Coastal Areas” of West Bengal and Odissa coast and its management strategies. Dr. Trivedi has played a pivotal role in developing high quality teaching and laboratory facilities in the college and department at West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, Kolkata. Has ample experience in academic and research planning and execution. He is member of many professional societies and have been also invited to attend conferences on Climate change and to chair the sessions.
Considering his expertise Dr. Trivedi has also been nominated by ICAR as member ICAR-BSMA committee on Fisheries to revise PG and Ph.D. syllabus. Dr Trivedi has been nominated by the govt of West Bengal as member of the committee to review the projects carried out in the department of Fisheries Govt of West Bengal. He is also the Visitor’s nominee in the governing body of Central University of Nagaland.
